Hotel Greif

Hotel Greif

Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy

The owner Franz Staffler is the man who created the Greif as you see it today. He chose all the Rubelli fabrics, selected six types of marble for the bathrooms and matched the carpets to the rooms. He gave 33 artists a free hand to create a unique visual feast. And found an architect who could conserve 500 years of history while creating something contemporary too. Thanks to Franz Staffler, all 33 rooms have a knack that’s rare in hotels: they make you want to live there. Try one and you’ll see what we mean.

Local Guide

Good to know

  • All the restaurants in Bolzano are within easy reach of the hotel. We recommend Restaurant Laurin, less than five minutes away. Head chef Manuel Astuto is half Sicilian, half South Tyrolean and his creations are the ultimate blend of delicate seafood and hearty mountain fare. The surroundings at the Laurin are equally authentic - original Jugendstil. In summer, the Laurin crew hoist white sun sails and serve outside in the park. Just ask them to charge your bill to your room at the Greif

  • Explore the surroundings on two wheels! The hotel offers complimentary city bikes from March to October, plus e-bike rentals
  • Enjoy a stroll and indulge in a bit of shopping or an aperitivo in the center
  • In 15 minutes, the new Rittner funicular railway whisks commuters and hikers from Bolzano to one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful high plateaus
