Our Story

Travelling since 1984

84 Rooms is a boutique travel collective launched ten years ago by bon vivant Sebastian Schoellgen. Inspired by his lifelong dedication to the art of travel, 84 Rooms started its journey as a collection of beautifully-designed and family-run hotels across the Alps and Mediterranean. Since then, our collective has expanded to include chalets, private islands, experiences, a creative consultancy and an e-commerce concept store. Everything we do is rooted in a love for connecting our tastemaker clients with unique and authentic experiences of the highest quality.

Introducing our team

Lauren Taylor, Strategy Director

Lauren spent a decade in the luxury space, hospitality and startups in New York City. She launched her career with internships at Chanel and editorial platforms, then was offered her dream job of social media coordinator at the epitome of luxury, Bergdorf Goodman, at just 22. After a few years of award-winning social media work, she began overseeing international marketing and partnerships at Bergdorfs, where she worked with dozens of the best hotels in the US, luxury businesses (such as Frieze NY, Sotheby's, and NY-based artists) and international notables to drive global sales and brand content. After 4 years at BG, she took her honed skills to the startup world, with executive roles at The Wing ($117m raise), Bumble Inc (Feb 2021 IPO at $8bn) and Spring Place (a state-of-the-art co-working and membership US-based club). Lauren has worked with some of the most exciting entrepreneurs, influencers, businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

Her expertise sits in the intersection of creative innovation, brand building, strategic partnerships, luxury, e-commerce models, and creative marketing strategies.

She received a BA in Markets & Culture from Southern Methodist University and is currently getting an Executive MSc in Social Business and Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics. She merges her expert marketing, partnership and digital skills with her new earned ESG knowledge, and luxury and hospitality background to support our growth strategies and marketing initiatives, including extension of our eco-tourism properties.

Lauren writes and consults for a variety of businesses (from luxury to tech), and is involved with Natural Resources Defense Council, Schmidt Foundation Futures, and is a Saks Fifth Avenue Ambassador. You can follow her zero-waste cooking platform and travels on @thepotagist.
