hotel Guide

Eco-Approach

  • The hotel is South Tyrol’s first Eco Hotel. Their mission is to inspire a sustainable lifestyle to help preserve the majestic natural power of our planet in all its purity. Here, environmental protection and aesthetics form a sustainable symbiosis.

  • As an ECO Hotel, they are fully committed to protecting our environment. Consequently, they have focused both on the details of the hotel’s construction and their guests’ journey (pre-stay, during-stay, and post-stay). Here are a few examples of their efforts: Excavated porphyry was repurposed as floor tiles and filling material. The building’s walls and floors are made of lime and clay to ensure a balanced temperature. Heat and electricity are from renewable energy sources.

  • No use of any disposable plastic, only locally treated natural mineral water is offered throughout the hotel.

Forest Spa

  • The Forest Spa, located deep in the spruce forest, is almost 100% chemical-free and a place of tranquillity and reflection. For that reason, it is located away from the pool, deep in the spruce forest. The Forest Spa, with its facilities and treatments, is inspired by the purity, tranquillity, and permanence of the forest.
  • The Sky Pools (one indoor and one outdoor) sprawl out before the peaks of the Dolomites. Both are heated all year round and offer a 180° view of the Dolomites.
  • Daily sessions of the most tried and tested relaxation techniques, such as yoga, meditation, forest bathing, Jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation, qigong, etc are offered.

Dining

  • Their restaurant, the Tschögglbergerhof, has genuine South Tyrolean charm – and a traditional approach to service and South Tyrolean dishes are part of their daily life. Homemade Schlutzkrapfen (South Tyrolean ravioli), tartare from local oxen, seasonal South Tyrolean asparagus cream soups, dandelion and wild garlic cheese dumplings, wild garlic pesto, and more – fresh from the valleys and mountainsides of South Tyrol and onto your plate. Served in traditional rooms, in a cozy ambiance with a panoramic view of the Dolomites.
  • Vegan menu alternatives are always available.

Dresscode

  • Spa robes during the day, Jankerl & Dirndl for dinner.

Budget

  • Rates start at EUR. 390 per night.

Local Guide

Location

  • The hotel is located in the small mountain village of Jenesien/San Genesio (population 3,000) at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level. Although it is quiet and secluded, the lively heart of Bolzano/Bozen is within easy reach via a scenic road.

Summer Activities

  • The Monzoccolo/Tschögglberg is one of the sunniest hiking regions in South Tyrol. There are chestnut trees and spruce and larch trees along the hiking trails, which form a network of over 800 kilometers. On your extended hikes, you will encounter Haflinger, open-minded people, and stories about life in the mountains. The hiking area around the hotel is full of undiscovered wonders of nature to which paths lead, as varied as the mountains themselves. Among some of the highlights are a long-distance hiking trail, panoramic Alpine hikes, summit hikes far beyond the forest line, and leisure hikes, which you can also master with a pram.

Don't Miss

  • The Bolzano/Bozen Christmas Market with its wide selection of handcrafted souvenirs, nativity scenes, hearty cuisine, and South Tyrolean specialties will delight you. At the Val Sarentino/Sarntal Alpine Advent, drink mulled wine warmed over an open fire.

Environmentally-Friendly Arrival

  • Hotel guests who opt for an environmentally-friendly arrival by train are picked up by the hotel shuttle in Bolzano/Bozen and receive a 5% discount on the nightly rate (Saltus Green Bonus). Guests’ transport in the area is completely free of charge and, thanks to a well-connected public transport network, very flexible.

How to Get There

  • Fly into Innsbruck or Verona, both a 2h car ride away. The smaller airport of Bolzano is now connected to some European cities with SkyAlps and only a 20 min drive to the hotel.
  • By train: Bolzano train station is a 20 min drive.
